Storyboard Assignment

PART 1: The Storyboard

It was a little bit difficult for me, in the beginning, to come up with an idea, given the list of shots that I was required to follow. The notes to the left show my thought process a little bit about what I was trying to achieve with this film. I wanted it to be interesting and different, but it was hard to find a way to do that that would use all of the specific shots I needed and also make sense. My storyboard in the end included all of the shots that were necessary in the final piece, but I think it made a little bit more sense on paper. I tried a couple different ideas for what to do about the gunshot thing, which really didn't fit in the way I wanted it to. I think the hardest part for me was having to stay within the guidelines of the assignment.

PART 2: The Planning Stage

I helped Ian out as an actress, and he helped me out as an actor. There were a couple of props in the scene that were a little bit difficult to find at BBA. For example, googly eyes are not very common here. I had to purchase those the night before we filmed. The day we filmed, I asked Mr. MacAurther to borrow his head lamp, and borrowed the feet from Mr. Kline. I knew that the feet were in Kline's room, and he would let me borrow them, but I probably should have planned out the head lamp stuff a lot earlier. We filmed in the green room. I needed a desk, so Alison offered the idea of using the suitcases as a desk, which I think looked really cool. I also learned a lot about how to use the green room and how to set up lights from Alison which was really helpful. I don't think I prepared enough though, if I was to do this again and make it as good as it possibly could be, I definitely would have spent more time on some things.

PART 3: Shooting and Editing the Story

I think this is where things started to go a little bit downhill for me, there are a couple things that (again) if I were to refilm this I would probably do a lot differently. I had some consistency errors, which I realized immediately after filming. Like what was on the desk, at what position, and when. There were a couple shots that were blurry, and I wished that I would have filmed the ending the way I was going to have it in the beginning, but I was running too low on time. (I wanted there to be a computer on the desk of the pinterest arts and crafts project he was trying to make, shown in comparison to his project. That's also where I was going to throw in a gunshot, but that probably would not make any sense. As you can probably see right now, this version of the film is pretty much not edited at all. I just noticed that there were a couple of clips that still had the audio up and weren't cut right, so I will be fixing that on Monday.
